At long last the Atlanta Braves are the 2013 National League East Division Champions. It seems like we’ve been waiting for the inevitable for weeks, and the Braves finally did it in splendid fashion — a critical Freddie Freeman home run, a couple of Andrelton homers (and some defense Web Gems), an overpowering Julio Teheran start, and of course, a Craig Kimbrel save.
After the game, the Braves celebrated. Here are some choice screen caps from the celebraish:
First off, the champs posing. I especially like the expression on Justin Upton’s face, and Kris Medlen looking at him like “what are you doing.”
There was plenty of photo bombing going on:
And photo bombing with beer pouring… Freeman was saying “oh, it’s so cold” in this shot:
This might be my favorite, for the content smirk with cigar on Schafer’s face, plus the lovin-it smile from Huddy:

In other news we learn about a possible trade that was offered to the Braves at this year’s trade deadline:
The Rangers, trying to solve that power void, tried to pull off a blockbuster deal for Atlanta Braves outfielder Justin Upton before the July 31 trade deadline. The Rangers offered starter Matt Garza, All-Star closer Joe Nathan and outfielder David Murphy, but they were rejected, two high-ranking club officials told USA TODAY Sports. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were unauthorized to publicly talk about personnel decisions.
I’m glad we passed. Sounds like the Rangers were trying to capitalize on all the injuries the Braves had been suffering around the deadline. I wonder if slash hope Frank Wren said, “I won’t trade you Justin Upton, but if you really want an Upton…”
